Chatham, NJ

Chatham, NJ is a bucolic setting, small-town atmosphere, top-rated schools, proximity to world-class shopping and health care, plus a sweet commute via NJ Transit's Midtown Direct commuter train make Chatham, NJ a very desirable and special town to live in. Chatham Borough was settled in the early 18th Century and has an active town center including charming shops, casual eateries and award-winning restaurants, a terrific public library, all necessary services, parks and tennis courts. Some of the neighborhoods in Chatham Boro are the Washington Section, the Manor Section, and the Village Section.

Madison, NJ

Madison, NJ has a rich history beginning in Colonial times. It is now home to approximately 16,000 lucky people with a median age of 33.4. There are many young people in this picturesque & vibrant town - students of Drew University, Fairleigh Dickinson University and St Elizabeth's College, as well as many others who choose to make Madison NJ their home. The public schools in Madison NJ are top-notch - consistently in New Jersey Monthly's Top 50, beautiful, tree-lined streets, a bustling downtown center, many recreational opportunities for adults and children alike. Madison's Fairmount Country Club - a private club for golf, newly renovated clubhouse and pool. Or, The Noe Club -- a man-made lake/pond to cool and entertain in the Summer months. Or, how about the top-notch fitness cum-squash club -the Chatham Club (on the edge of Madison). Madison's village center hosts street fairs and includes exclusive boutiques and interesting shops, casual and fine restaurants, as well as a movie theater. The commute to Jersey City's Financial District and New York City via NJ Transit Midtown Direct is sweet and easy. Madison's people are warm and friendly.

The homes and real estate in Madison, NJ are not cookie-cutter. Choose from a newish condo on Main Street, a townhouse in the bucolic and peaceful Madison Commons townhouse community, a fine period home on The Hill, or a more suburban setting in Rolling Hills. There are many choices though never too many homes in Madison NJ. The average price of a home in Madison in 2017 was $843,803, while in 2016 it was $886,317. 124 Madison NJ homes were sold in 2017, vs 194 in 2016. That's a big difference. 2017 showed a big decline in the Madison market, lets hope things pick up in 2018. Homes in Madison NJ vary from starter homes to new construction and fine estate period homes on The Hill.

Summit, NJ

Summit, NJ has a vibrant downtown with so much to offer. There is very easy access to delightful and creative shops, casual and fine restaurants both, and all the necessities such as banks, services, and entertainment options. You can take the train to New York seven days a week right from downtown. The community is diverse and always changing. Summit has beautiful homes, easy access to all the surrounding suburbs, New York City and the Jersey Shore. There are large, stately period homes and smaller, charming homes as well. There are a variety of condos and townhouses in Summit - for a more carefree lifestyle.

Because of its very fine schools, vibrant downtown village center, winding tree-lined streets, and, its proximity and ease of getting to Jersey City and New York on the Midtown Direct, Summit remains a desirable community in which to live and own a home in spite of the economy. Even in times of economic downturn, the down part is gentler here.

The cost of living is fairly high, but Summit delivers big on services and opportunities. With nearly 8,000 households with average incomes of $191,444, this is an affluent community.
